What’s Involved in Make It Wyndham?

Engaging Workshops

You will get access to a series of workshops where you learn more about what it takes to officially start a business, basics around finance and marketing, preparing for long term growth and working with others, capacity building to prepare to run your own business and how to communicate with others about your business.

There are two options for these sessions, delivered as seven evening sessions run online or three Saturday workshop in person.

The sessions will allow plenty of chances to ask questions, learn from each other and discover how your idea and/or passion can become a business idea that you can put into place.

One-on-One Mentoring

On top of the workshops, you will get access to three one-on-one meetings to talk through your business, ask questions about next steps, gain insights from an experienced entrepreneur and gain confidence about what you can achieve next.

These can be scheduled in person throughout the Make It Wyndham workshop program or delivered as a phone / video conference, and all meetings are with Adam Mostogl, who is delivering the workshop sessions and will share his experience of starting multiple businesses to help you get on the right track.

Networking Sessions

To build your networks and hear from other business owners and leaders in Wyndham, Make It Wyndham will include three networking sessions, with a focus on topics raised by those who are registered for the program.

These events will allow you to meet others in the program, to talk with other people who have already started businesses, and learn from special guests invited to share their insights and perspectives with you, all in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Further details about these events will be announced soon.

who is delivering the sessions?

Adam Mostogl

CEO & Chief Entrepreneur, The van Diemen Project & Founder / Inspirer, illuminate Education Australia
2017 Australia’s Top 30 Under 30 Entrepreneurs // 2015 Finalist, Young Australian of the Year

In any given week, Adam Mostogl might be helping entrepreneurs to kick-start their business ideas, stimulating small businesses to challenge the status quo, challenging communities to understand their potential or teaching hundreds of students to embrace innovation to solve the problems of the future.

Adam is passionate about embracing creative and innovative solutions to common problems, with experience across a wide variety of industry areas. As the CEO & Chief Entrepreneur of The Van Diemen Project, every single day is focused on making opportunities matter – through helping more people start businesses with confidence, supporting existing businesses to grow and be resilient in these changing times, kickstarting social enterprises, running engaging workshops and events as well as private advisory work to help larger organisations change for the better.

His passion for this has come from his work with young people, where since 2010 over 17,000 students have undertaken entrepreneurial education programs lead by Adam as the Founder / Inspirer of illuminate Education Australia, which focuses on inspiring students to be the confident, creative and capable people they have the potential to be. Not only are these programs changing the lives of young Australians, it is shifting the way schools across the nation teach and inspire students with the skills that they need to thrive.

Adam was announced as Tasmania’s Finalist for Young Australian of the Year in 2015, and in 2017 was the only Tasmanian listed in Anthill’s 30under30 list for Australian entrepreneurs under the age of 30. These workshops will cover all of the content in the seven evening sessions, plus with time for you to unpack and apply the information into your own business – as well as snacks to keep you going.

When do the mentoring sessions happen?

Across the Make It Wyndham program, you have access to three mentoring conversations with Adam Mostogl, giving you the chance to talk through your idea, ask questions and integrate the information from the workshops into your business idea. These will be scheduled based on your availability, and can either be conducted in person or via a phone / video conference.

In developing the Make It Wyndham program, it is envisaged that the three mentoring sessions would be used in the following way to make the most of what is offered;

  1. The first mentoring session would occur between when you have been accepted into the program and before the first workshop, so you can talk through your idea, what worries you about starting a business, and help prepare you for the workshop sessions.
  2. The second mentoring session would occur in the middle of the program, after the marketing and finance workshops, as these are the larger aspects of starting a business and it is important to build confidence in these areas.
  3. The third mentoring session will be scheduled after the final workshop of the program, allowing you to talk about where you are going to next with your business idea and other support that is available in Wyndham.
Do I need to have a business idea before entering the program?

No, not necessarily. You might have a passion to do something and we can develop the idea furterh in the program, or you might have something you have been wanting to start for a while – just enter the details that you have, and we can talk further about your idea in Make It Wyndham.

What if I have already started a business? Can I still register?

Firstly – congratulations! We always love hearing about young people making a way for themselves while they are young.

The requirement around the program is that you must be operating your business for less than twelve months at the time of starting the program. Most people who will applying will not have started yet, and the information is designed to help get your business going from this point, and for new businesses, this can still help you out.

If you are unsure, please just register your interest and ask about your specific situation.

Can I get funding through Make It Wyndham?

No. The workshops, mentoring and networking sessions will provide support and valuable insights to help build your business idea, but there is no money available through the program to help you fund your business.

When do registrations close?

Registrations are open now, but will close at 5:00 pm on Friday June 3, 2022.

While you have some time to apply, it is best to apply early to access the support on offer, and to clarify anything before the Make It Wyndham workshops begin in mid-June.
